  • Please send in your encouragement letters by this Thursday!  Thank you for your support!
  • The students can share what they did over the weekend with their peers on our new Padlet! Your child can access it by going to padlet.com/kbranding1/weekend . The students are familiar with Padlet because we use it in the classroom regularly, so they should have no problem sharing a picture or just a few words.  I look forward to sharing it during our class meeting tomorrow.
  • The students will have their Growth and Development lesson on Thursday with Nurse Eva.  The boys and girls will have their lesson at different times.  If you have any questions on the content or would like more information, please let me know.
  • We will be starting our Nature Unleashed science unit soon, and we will be spending a lot of time outdoors observing and making discoveries in your schoolyard ecosystem.  Your child is encouraged to bring in an old bath towel or beach towel to use during our outdoor learning.  With the beautiful weather ahead, I also like to take the students outside to read and write.

Keep up your hard work!

Reader's Workshop:
  • The students will be working on reading strategies this week as they read short passages and answer questions from their reading. They will practice previewing the questions before reading, use FUN (find the answer, underline it and number it), and use keywords to help identify the answer in the text.
    Writer's Workshop:
    • Our chosen poetry anthology topic is "Food". The students are having fun with their creativity as they write poems about food.
        Math:
        • This week we will focus on geometry in math.  The students will learn about lines segments, rays, parallel and perpendicular, and angles.  We will also be spending time this week using a protractor to measure and create angles.
        Science:
        • As the students finish their Boston Tea Party STEAM project, they will have the opportunity to test their tea crate and see how water proof it is!
