What's Going on in Our Classroom....
Reader's Workshop:
  • The students are doing a wonderful job reading nonfiction material and identifying the structure the author used by thinking about the text and using keywords to help identify the structure.  We will continue to work with this during the week to help prepare the students as they write their informational piece in writing.
    Writer's Workshop:
    • The students have chosen their informational text topic and will begin researching this week.  The students are learning how to paraphrase material and use direct quotes as they take notes.
        Math:
        • The students will be introduced to improper fractions and mixed numbers this week.  They will continue to work with simplifying and determining if a fraction is less than or greater than another fraction.
        • The students should continue to practice their facts at home.  Having them mastered will greatly help them while working with fractions.
          Science:
          • The students will be introduced to the properties of matter and will conduct an investigation testing the density of different liquids.
