Important Announcements:
- We have our field trip to the Daniel Boone Historic Home this Wednesday! The students will need to bring a sack lunch and drink for the all-day trip to Defiance, Missouri. It is a great hands-on field trip that the kids will enjoy!

What's Happening in Our Room....
Reading Workshop:
Reading Workshop:
- The students have selected their book club book, and we will begin book clubs this week. The students will work together in book clubs to decide on reading assignments and reading response tasks each week. Your child will be reading his/her book in class, as well as at home.
- If your child participates in Reading Plus, please help him/her remember to complete his/her weekly assignments. These reading assignments can be completed at home and count towards at-home reading minutes!
Writing Workshop:
- The students will publish their poems for our class anthology this week. The students will also select one of their poems for Poetry Alive! The students will learn how to make their poems come alive as they perform a poem.
- The students will have a vocabulary test on Thursday over the 6 words given to them last week. They created review cards to study and will work on an assignment this week as they prepare for the test.
Math:
- We have postponed the geometry test to this week. The students will continue to review the words on Monday and be tested on Tuesday.
- The students will have opportunities to work on ALEKS, review fractions and word problems as they work in Math Stations this week.
- The students have until May 11th to complete their 4th grade ALEKS pie to participate in our ALEKS Celebration! We currently have 9 participants!!
Science:
- The students will continue to learn about specialized structures of plants and animals as we observe nature outdoors.
- Your child as been asked to bring in an old beach towel or bath towel to sit on as we work outside.
Social Studies:
- The students will continue to learn about the Civil War.
