                              Things You Should Know....

                              • The students have taken on their new classroom leaderships roles with GREAT pride this past week! The students did not need reminders to complete their given task and each of them are completing them on time and thoroughly! Yea!!
                              • After monitoring the students' spelling in their writing pieces and daily work, I have decided to begin spelling tests.  The students will be responsible for working with and learning 13 words.  Three of the spelling words will come from your child's personal spelling list.  The students will begin keeping track of words they do not know how to spell in their spelling journal.  Five words will come from a spelling pattern and the other five words will be content words.  I will give the students spelling words on a Monday and they will be tested over the words the 2nd Friday after they are given.  This will give the students time to work with them in class and at home.  The students will be collecting words this week and they will be given their 1st list of words next Monday.
                              • The students will be assigned to complete at least 3 topics on ALEKS at home this week.   If your child needs assistance with a topic, please help him/her by using examples similar to the problems, but please allow your child to work out the assigned problems on his/her own.  ALEKS progresses the students according to what they accomplish, and if your child has not truly mastered a topic, he/she will be presented with material that may be too challenging.
