What's Happening in Room 30.......

Important Announcements:

  • MAP testing starts this week!  Please read  more information about our upcoming MAP testing and helpful ways to prepare your child at home.
  • Please send in your child's encouragement letters tomorrow!  Thank you!!
  • Our testing dates are as follows: 
            - Wednesday, April 19th 1:00 - 3:00 (ELA)
            - Thursday, April 20th 9:00 - 11:00 (ELA)
            - Monday, April 24th 1:00 - 3:00 (Math)
            - Wednesday, April 26th 9:00 - 11:00 (Math)

  • Field trip permission slips came home on Friday.  Please view, sign and return as soon as possible.

What's Happening in Our Room....

Reading Workshop:
  • We will review reading strategies this week that will prepare us for MAP testing. 
  • If your child participates in Reading Plus, please help him/her remember to complete his/her weekly assignments.  These reading assignments can be completed at home and count towards at-home reading minutes!
    Writing Workshop:
    • The students will write one more poem for our class anthology this week before we begin publishing.
    Math:
    • We will continue to work with lines, line segments and rays before moving into measuring angles with protractors.  In our math stations, the students will be reviewing fractions and measurement this week.
    • The students have until May 11th to complete their 4th grade ALEKS pie to participate in our ALEKS Celebration!  We currently have 9 participants!!
    Science:
    • This week we will begin Nature Unleashed, the study of our ecosystems provided by the Missouri Conservation Department.  We will be spending a lot of time outside exploring nature and learning about the Missouri ecosystems. 
    • Your child as been asked to bring in an old beach towel or bath towel to sit on as we work outside.
    Social Studies:
    • The students will continue to learn about the Civil War.
