What's Going on in Our Classroom....
Reader's Workshop:
  • We will focus our reading lessons on reading fluency.  The students will learn how to be a fluent reader. Each day, the students will practice a specific passage as they focus on reading the exact words at a good pace while acknowledging punctuation.  Next week, your child will be assigned to practice reading a passage at home to you to practice his/her fluency.
    Writer's Workshop:
    • The students will be introduced to our first Mentor Sentence on Monday.  Each day this week, the students will study the well-developed sentence.  By the end of the week, the students will model the sentence by creating a well-developed sentence of their own using several of the grammar and punctuation rules noticed in the Mentor Sentence.
    • The students will be working with different story starters  to write fun stories while building their writing stamina.
    • The students will be given a new set of spelling words on Monday.  They will be tested over the words on Thursday, November 2nd. (Not on Friday due to our field trip).
        Math:
        • The students will continue to work with multiplication as they are introduced to multiplying two-digit by two digits!  They are super excited for this skill!
        • The students will be assigned to complete at least 3 topics on ALEKS at home!
        Science:
        • The students will be learning about the three different types of rocks.  We will end the week with creating the three types of rocks using the rock cycle and Starburst!
