What's Going on in Our Classroom....
Reader's Workshop:
Reader's Workshop:
- The students will be reading different articles from Storyworks this week which will include an opinion article called "Is it Fair to Ban Fidgit Spinners?" The students will write a persuasive paragraph in writing using arguments from the article.
- The students will have technology reading again on Friday and will read from Readtheory.org. It is a great online reading program that monitors the students' reading comprehension. After reading nonfiction articles at their reading level, they are assigned to answer questions from the text. The students LOVE the program and are encouraged to use it at home, as well. We will have "technology reading" every Friday, where the students will read online using Read Theory or Reading Plus.
Writer's Workshop:
- We are working on writing well-developed paragraphs in writing. The students will write an Author Bio and a persuasive paragraph this week focusing on topic sentences, three details and a closing sentence.
- The students will be introduced to a new set of vocabulary words through flocabulary.com this week, and the students will work with the words through fun activities.
Math:
- The students will continue to work with multiplying up to 4 digits by one digit numbers this week. They will also be working with multiplication word problems finding exact and estimated answers.
Science:
- The students will learn about the properties used to identify minerals and explore the three types of rocks.
