Things To Know...
- The students can share what they did over the weekend with their peers on our new Padlet! Your child can access it by going to padlet.com/kbranding1/weekend . The students are familiar with Padlet because we use it in the classroom regularly, so they should have no problem sharing a picture or just a few words. I look forward to sharing it during our class meeting tomorrow!
- I am sure you heard about the taxation activity we did on Friday. The students were unfairly taxed throughout the day. They had to pay (with skittles) taxes for using the computers, sitting on our carpet, turning in papers, etc. They quickly realized how the colonists felt as they had fun playing along.
- The students will receive a new set of spelling words on Monday and will be tested over them next Thursday. They should be practicing them at home to help prepare for their test.
- Our last Scholastic book order will be coming home later this week!

Reader's Workshop:
- The students will be working on reading strategies this week as they read short passages and answer questions from their reading. They will practice previewing the questions before reading, use FUN (find the answer, underline it and number it), and use keywords to help identify the answer in the text.
Writer's Workshop:
- We will continue to study different poems and practice writing poetry this week. The students will vote on a topic for our class anthology and they will write a descriptive poem and a repeated line poem. Keep an eye out for some fun poetry on Seesaw!
Math:
- We will continue to work with the area this week and the students will be tested over perimeter and area on Wednesday. We will then be moving into geometry!
Science:
- The students will continue to work with density this week as they complete another STEAM activity with their peers. They will be responsible for creating a crate that can hold a tea bag and keep it dry when placed in water. This activity goes along with the Boston Tea Party, which we learned about last week.
