Things To Know...
- Thank you for sending in MAP encouragement notes for your child! They will LOVE reading them. If you have not yet sent yours in, feel free to e-mail them to me or send them in tomorrow!
- MAP testing begins TOMORROW! Each day before testing, your child will come home with a ticket that can be signed and returned the following day for surprise from our Treasure Bag. Your child has one in his/her Take Home Folder!

- The students can share what they did over the weekend with their peers on our new Padlet! Your child can access it by going to padlet.com/kbranding1/weekend . The students are familiar with Padlet because we use it in the classroom regularly, so they should have no problem sharing a picture or just a few words. I look forward to sharing it during our class meeting tomorrow.
- We will be starting our Nature Unleashed science unit soon, and we will be spending a lot of time outdoors observing and making discoveries in your schoolyard ecosystem. Your child is encouraged to bring in an old bath towel or beach towel to use during our outdoor learning. With the beautiful weather ahead, I also like to take the students outside to read and write.

Reader's Workshop:
- We will begin reading the I Survived the Revolutionary War as a class read aloud as we learn many key events of the war. The students will practice summarizing, in a few sentences, each chapter. We will also be participating in a Virtual Field Trip through Scholastic!
Writer's Workshop:
- Our chosen poetry anthology topic is "Food". The students are having fun with their creativity as they write poems about food.
Math:
- The students are doing GREAT with geometry! We will be working with quadrilaterals early this week before moving into Metric Measurement.
- The students will be reviewing geometry terms as they create a Geometry Name! Keep an eye out for it on Seesaw! They will also be playing a review game called, Mile A Minute. The students played it as we reviewed for our Social Studies test and LOVED it!
Science:
- We will begin our Nature Unleashed unit this week! Nature Unleashed is a curriculum written by the Missouri Conservation Department. The students will learn about Missouri's ecosystems and study the plants and animals found in them. Many of our lessons will take place outdoors as the students observe nature.
- We will be going on a field trip to the Claire Gempp Conservation Area in May. More details to come...
