What's Going on in Our Classroom....
Reader's Workshop:
  • The students will choose their book for the upcoming book clubs.  Our book club genre is mystery.  We will spend several days learning how to talk about a book as the students learn to lead a book club discussion with their peers.
    Writer's Workshop:
    • We are beginning our Essay Unit this week.  The students will learn the components of an essay and practice writing a class essay together titled, "Ice Cream Is the Best Dessert".  The students will begin brainstorming ideas for a persuasive essay thesis that they will begin to write after Thanksgiving Break.
        Math:
        • The students began dividing with zeros and estimating using compatible numbers last week.  They will begin long division this week!  They will learn long division using the same method you are most likely familiar with, but they will be introduced to "short division" next week.  Wait to you see how easy it is!
        Science:
        • We are finishing up our Rocks and Minerals Unit this week as the students complete an erosion STEM project on Mystery Science.  The students will create a way to eliminate or lessen erosion of a "mountain".  Keep an eye out for pictures of the project!
