What's Going on in Our Classroom....
Reader's Workshop:
  • The students will continue to discuss our class read aloud, Wonder, to prepare them for book clubs that will begin next week.  The students will be given a choice of 5 books to read in a book club this week.  They will be assigned pages to read and tasks to complete in their reading notebook.  You may see these books coming home to read starting next week.
  • The students will read short articles about the three types of rocks and use a strategy called FUN (find, underline and number) to accurately answer questions from their reading.
    Writer's Workshop:
    • The students will write a 4th Grade Memory about our field trip on Friday.  They will construct a well-developed paragraph as they reflect on their favorite parts of the day.
    • We will begin discussing the components of an essay as the students begin brainstorming ideas for their persuasive thesis statement.
        Math:
        • The students will review multiplication on Monday and will be tested over the material on Tuesday.  They will begin division this week as they practice dividing with a basic fact and zeros.  Mastering their multiplication facts is a vital component in mastering multiplication and division.
        • The students will be assigned to complete at least 3 topics on ALEKS at home!
        Science:
        • The students will review rocks and minerals on Monday and Tuesday and will be tested over the material on Wednesday.  We are working on learning good study habits, and I am strongly encouraging students to study more than one evening for a test at home.  We have been talking about different study strategies and habits to help them be successful on tests.
