What's Happening in Our Room....

Reading Workshop:
  • The students are working with their book clubs on the group project.  They will present the finished project this week.  I am happy to see that many students are choosing to continue reading a book in a "book club".  Many students have picked a book with a classmate and are meeting to discuss it as they read the book.
  • The students will practice making inferences (a conclusion based on clues and reasoning)  this week as we read our read aloud book, Ghost Dog Secrets.
Writing Workshop:
  • The students are developing their information text chapters on google slides this week by including different text features.  Some of the text features students are choosing to use are, pictures, videos, maps, fun fact text boxes, glossaries, Venn diagrams, timelines and picture diagrams.  The students are having fun creating their slides.
Math:
  • Please continue to encourage your child to practice facts using flashcards, online games or Quicktables on ALEKS.
  • The students will review chapter 8 on Monday and will be tested on Tuesday.  We will continue to work with fractions in chapter 9.
  • The students will work on a Spiral Review for morning work this week.  Any unfinished work will be assigned for homework.  It will be due on Friday.
Science:
  • The students will conduct an insulator/conductor investigation this week and write a conclusion to their findings.
Social Studies:
  • The students are learning about early pioneer life.
