What's Happening in Our Room....
Reading Workshop:
- The students are encouraged to read aloud to a stuffed animal again this week to practice their fluency. This is a perfect time to read to your child so you can model fluency, as well.
- Your child will be asked to read aloud a passage to you Monday evening as part of practicing his/her fluency.
- We will be reading Escape From War from Storyworks this week. The students will practice reading "closely" as they annotate the passage.
Writing Workshop:
- The students will finish the 1st draft of their persuasive essay. The students have been focusing on writing to a specific audience and using confident language to help persuade the reader.
- The students will set a writing goal this week as they begin revising their essays.
Math:
- We will continue to practice multiplication as we begin chapter 6 on division.
- The students will bring home their math test on Monday to

Science:
- The students will continue to learn about the 3 rock types and how the they are formed. Using the rock cycle, the students will create the 3 types of rocks using Starbursts!
Social Studies:
- The students are learning about early Missouri Explorers and Native Americans.
