What's Happening in Our Room....
Reading Workshop:
  • The students will practice listening to audio text and answer questions related to the text.
  • I have encouraged the students to increase their independent reading time to 30 minutes at home.  Some of the students included this as a reading goal!
Writer's Workshop:
  • The students have chosen "food" as our topic for the class poetry anthology.  They have  created fun poems around the topic.  This week, the students will create a "repeated line" and a simile poem.  They will focus on including different types of figurative language in their poetry.  I will post a few poems later this week on our blog.
Math:
  • The students will be tested over customary measurement on Tuesday.  We will begin our geometry unit on Wednesday.
Science
  • The students are enjoying the Nature Unleashed Unit.  We spent time outside last week between cooler temperatures.  We will hopefully get more time outside this week as we continue to study the ecosystems.  We will end out unit with a field trip to GEMPP Missouri Conservation Area on May 17th.
