What's Happening in Our Room....
Reading Workshop:
  • The students will learn about point of view this week.  The students will be able to identify 1st and 3rd person point of views and understand how a story can be changed when told from a different point of view.
  • They will also be studying author's purpose.  The students will be presented with different texts and asked to identify the author's purpose: persuade, entertain or inform the audience.
Writer's Workshop:
  • We will begin our Poetry Unit this week!  The students will study several different poems and identify how the author used figurative language and creative wording to express his/her thoughts through poetry.  This will prepare them to write a class anthology of poetry.
Math:
  • We will begin learning about customary measurement this week.  As we work with measurement, we will review area and perimeter through hands-on measuring activities.
Science
  • We will continue with our Matter Unit, and we will incorporate metric measurement activities as we study mass, volume and weight.
