What's Going on in Our Classroom....
Reader's Workshop:
- The students will be learning about different text features (maps, charts, tables, index, table of contents, pictures, etc.) that authors use in nonfiction writing to organize information for the reader. They will be preparing to decide on which features they will include in their informational writing piece.
Writer's Workshop:
- The students will continue to take notes and write their informational writing piece using the different text structures we have been studying (description, compare/contrast, cause/effect, order/sequence and problem/solution).
Math:
- The students will review fractions on Monday and be tested on Tuesday. They will be expected to identify and work with equivalent fractions, improper fractions and mixed numbers. They will also need to be able to simplify fractions. The review will be sent home on Monday.
- The students should continue to practice their facts at home. Having them mastered will greatly help them while working with fractions.
Science:
- The students will continue with the density investigation and prepare to complete a STEM activity using their knowledge of mass and density.
