What's Happening in Room 34............

Things You Should Know....

  • This week, we are collecting paper products for Adopt a Family!  Feel free to send in items this week for our Crestwood families!  Thank you.  If you would like to sign up to donate specific items on the Giving Tree, please use this link 
  • The students will be tested over their multiplication facts on Tuesday and Friday this week.  Our goal is to have everyone master their facts by Winter Break!  A lot of students have met this goal and looking forward to seeing more! 
  • The students will be given a new set of spelling words on Monday and will be tested over them on Friday, December 15th.

What's Going on in Our Classroom....
Reader's Workshop:
  • The students are really doing a wonderful job discussing their book with their book club.  They will continue to read meet and read this week, so you may see their book at home being read during their reading time!
    Writer's Workshop:
    • The students will be drafting their persuasive essay this week. This week we will be focusing on the structure of each paragraph.  The students will learn how to elaborate in their essay by sharing personal stories, examples or research to help support their thesis.  They will learn to write a creative lead this week to help hook their reader.
        Math:
        • We will be spending some time this week reviewing addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.  The students will also be working with a couple of performance tasks that will require the students to apply their math knowledge to complete more in depth math problems.  They will be working with their math partners during these tasks.
        • During Math Stations this week, the students will have Alexa check their answers, they will review addition and subtraction using Face It Math and have opportunities to work on ALEKS!
        • The students are assigned to complete at least 3 topics on ALEKS at home by Friday.
          Social Studies:
          • This week, the students will be learning about the 1st three English Settlements; Roanoke, Jamestown and Plymouth.
