What's Happening in Room 30......
Important Announcements:
- We concluded our poetry unit this past week with the students performing poems! I will share the video this week. I believe the love of poetry has increased in every student this year! Each student will receive a copy of our class poetry anthology. You will really enjoy reading them!
- The students have until Tuesday to complete their ALEKS's 4th grade pie in order to participate in our ALEKS Celebration. I have several students who are SO close!
Dates to Remember:
Tuesday: Last Day to complete ALEKS 4th grade pie to participate in ALEKS Celebration.

What's Happening in Our Room....
Reading Workshop:
Reading Workshop:
- The students are doing a great job leading book clubs. They have been deciding on the pages to read and the task to complete as a group. The students are enjoying their books and discussing them well during group discussions. They will continue reading their book club book this week.
Writing Workshop:
- The students will be given 6 vocabulary words on Monday and will be tested over them on Friday. They will work with them throughout the week with a homework activity and making and practicing study cards.
- This week, the students will be given a creative ecosystem, and each student will be responsible for creating an animal with at least 5 different specialized structures to help the animal survive in the new ecosystem. The students will also write a well-constructed paragraph explaining the animal they created along with the structures.
Math:
- The students will be reviewing during math stations this week. The students will be introduced to a few 5th grade skills this week as they learn how to add fractions with unlike denominators and introduced to negative numbers.
- The students have until May 16th to complete their 4th grade ALEKS pie to participate in our ALEKS Celebration! We currently have 9 participants!!
Science:
- See "Writing" for this week's activity.
Social Studies:
- The students will continue to learn about the Civil War.
